   Start the New Year Strong

It’s resolution time and we all want to start the new year strong. (And not just by hitting the gym…though that certainly wouldn’t hurt after all the over indulging done over the holidays.

Now is a good time to set the personal and professional goals that you want to achieve in the new year and begin tracking them month by month or quarter by quarter. Of course, it takes planning to set yourself up for success. But where do you begin?

In my experience, the road to success starts with:

Identifying your goals. Ask yourself, "What could happen this year that will leave me feeling satisfied and successful?" These are your goals. Write them down on Post-it® notes and put them on your computer or set a daily reminder on your phone. Seeing those goals every day will empower you to stay on track.

Learning new skills. After your goals are set, it’s important to determine what you need to learn to help you get there. Mastering new skills not only makes you smarter, but also increases your confidence and ability to adapt more readily to new situations—making you more successful in the long run.

Nurturing yourself and your support systems. Being your best self requires eating, sleeping, playing and working in a balanced way, as well as staying connected to friends and colleagues by phone, email or social media. Or doing an old-fashioned meetup (perhaps at our first annual user conference in New Orleans). You never know what opportunities those relationships might bring.

Remembering that setbacks happen. An occasional stumble—or even a step back—isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Welcome setbacks as the great redirection-providers they are. And lean on those support systems—this is when it’s great to have someone (or a lot of someones!) to turn to and help you get back on your feet faster.

I hope we all achieve our goals in 2016, ending the new year just as strong as we started. In this month’s newsletter, we’ve included ways to do all of the above to help make 2016 your most successful year yet!

  A Better Support System

We’re making investments to provide you with an even stronger support system…

We’ve added additional Point and loan support reps to handle the increased call volume resulting from the new TRID regulations.

Point Version 9.2, Service Pack 9 (SP9) will be released within two weeks with new features and updates to existing behavior that include:

  • Adding the Payoffs & Adjustments screen to manage lender credits, seller credits, deposits and funds from and to the borrower.
  • Adding an Escrowed check box to section 9 on the Fees Worksheet and Closing Costs Worksheet to indicate on the applicable disclosure whether a fee is included in escrow.
  • Adding functionality to prevent fees on the Fees Worksheet from automatically adjusting if the loan amount is changed after the Loan Estimate is disclosed.
  • Separating Proposed Housing Expenses on the Loan Application from the Fees Worksheet to give users independent control of fees on the Loan Estimate.
  • Updating screens, calculations and print output for originating Construction-to-Permanent loans.
  • Updating MISMO export to include expanded fee data from the Closing Costs Worksheet.

We’ve produced new Knowledge Base articles, videos and webinars that will be available before Point 9.2 SP9 is released  to provide you with all the information you need about this update. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of these resources. Stay tuned for more information!

  Mid America Mortgage Products and Pricing Now Available in Point

Product and pricing sheets for Mid America Mortgage programs are now available to all Point users regardless of whether they are registered to broker loans with Mid America.

A multi-state wholesale mortgage lender with nearly 30 branches in the United States, Mid America offers a wide range of purchase and refinance programs that include low down payment and expanded credit options for home buyers and investors.

To take advantage of this new offering in Point, go to Interfaces > Product and Pricing and select Mid America Mortgage.


Monthly Product Tip: Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure with Multiple
Co-Borrowers and Sellers

The printed Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure cannot accommodate multiple borrowers and sellers on the first page. To ensure that all borrowers and sellers are appropriately disclosed, addendums to the disclosures are dynamically generated when multiple borrowers and sellers are present.

To view the addendum with multiple borrowers:

  • Select File > Print Preview to access the Borrower Forms dialog box
  • Select all pages of the Loan Estimate or Closing Disclosure
  • Click Print Preview

Multiple sellers are printed on the Closing Disclosure addendum. Primary seller information is entered on the Track > Agent List screen. To enter additional sellers:

  • Select Banker > Closing Documents > Basic Loan Information
  • Scroll to the Sellers section
  • Click Add to enter additional sellers as needed

To view the addendum with multiple sellers:

  • Select File > Print Preview to access the Borrower Forms dialog box
  • Select all Closing Disclosure pages
  • Click Print Preview
