Becoming Limitless…
Joan England, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing

No, I’m not talking about the Bradley Cooper movie in which he takes a pill to transform from a struggling writer into a financial wizard. Rather, I’m talking about recognizing your limitations as challenges and finding a way to defeat them.

Becoming limitless in our industry requires:

  1. Education. One of the biggest limitations that lenders and brokers have faced over the past few years is the plethora of recently enacted local, state and Federal regulations. These changes in turn have cascaded into a similar plethora of changes in all loan origination systems. In addition, changing market trends also have a big impact on the mortgage industry. Understanding these regulations, staying up-to-date with LOS user training, and being on top of trends is vital to survival and success.
  2. Automation. It will be harder and harder for lenders and brokers to survive if they continue to use manual processes. Technology helps automate and streamline processes, reduce costs and minimize the risks that can potentially become more and more costly in today’s regulatory climate. Using the best automated solutions will help keep risks (and costs) at a minimum.
  3. A personalized solution. While it’s easy to want the shiny new tool, lenders and brokers need to make sure it fits their business model because one size does not fit all. Some of you like desktop solutions, some server hosted, and some need the cloud. Some want online training, some want training in-house. Choosing what’s best for you helps keep you productive and secure.

Calyx provides all three of these. Education via our Knowledge Base, webinars, symposium and user conference. Automation through innovative new products and integrations, like Calyx Pricer® and LO Connect. And personalized choices and solutions from multiple loan origination systems: Point®/ PointCentral® for brokers, mortgage banks, banks and credit unions focused on high production and ease of use for originators, and PathSoftware™, a cloud-based, data-driven system designed to help mid-tier to large, enterprise-level financial institutions with multi-channel originations.

Because at the end of the day, we’re here to help you become limitless.

Point Version 9.4 Is Coming Very Soon

Release highlights include:

  • Added the revised HUD form 92-900a FHA/VA Form 26-1802a, required by FHA and VA for certain loans effective August 1, 2016, and updated the Point screen to accommodate the revisions.
  • Updated Point to support electronic signatures on custom documents.
  • Transferred the Aggregate Escrow Account screen shortcut and data flow from the Fees Worksheet to the Closing Costs Worksheet for use in the Closing Disclosure. The Aggregate Adjustment button in Block G remains on the Fees Worksheet for estimating purposes.

Point now requires .NET Framework version 4.5 to accommodate Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 security certificate updates.

NOTE: Companies who use the Point SDK must update the target framework and recompile the SDK application after updating Point. If you need assistance from an SDK development services provider, information is available at CalyxSoftware.com

In addition, Point now supports Microsoft Office 2016.

For help with Point or any Calyx product, feel free to contact Calyx Support at support@calyxsoftware.com, 800.342.2599 or check out our Knowledge Base for 24/7 assistance.

LoanScoreCard Introduces LO Connect

LoanScoreCard, a leading provider of automated underwriting and compliance solutions and subsidiary of CalyxSoftware, recently introduced LO Connect an integrated automated distribution solution for aggregators and wholesale lenders sourcing non-agency loans from third-party originators (TPOs) and correspondents. LO Connect combines the power of LoanScoreCard Custom AUS underwriting system, their product and pricing engine (PPE) and a unique integration with Point and PointCentral.

LO Connect allows TPOs to see branded product and pricing offers from participating wholesalers within Point. If the originator likes an eligible product and fully-adjusted price, they can run “upfront decisioning” and get back an in-depth Findings Report which delivers an early indication of the likelihood that the specific investor will approve the loan. Uniquely, any Point originator can use LO Connect without first having a business relationship with the investor or needing to put together a full loan package. This saves time and effort for both the TPOs and the investors.

From an originator’s perspective, LO Connect helps determine who to sell specific loans to and which investors to develop a relationship with. It also eliminates the likelihood that the originator will quote the wrong information to the borrower.

"LO Connect provides an automation and visibility that many TPOs don’t have at all today," said Ben Wu, executive director at LoanScoreCard. “Because LO Connect is run at point of sale, TPOs receive an early look into whether a loan file is likely to be accepted by a wholesaler, without taking up anyone’s time—particularly the borrower’s or wholesaler’s, who could see the file prematurely and have tremendous burden to actually underwrite it, render a decision, issue disclosures, etc."

Getting Started with MyCalyx

New to MyCalyx.com? Don’t know where to start? Here are the basics…

The MyCalyx homepage is displayed after you log in to MyCalyx and, depending on your account status, contains options for managing Point users, mobile users, or downloading the server software for PointCentral.

  • The top of every page contains links to MyCalyx (which returns you to the MyCalyx homepage), help, your profile, and a button to log out of MyCalyx.
  • The Getting Started button opens a web page that contains general information that will help you quickly get started using MyCalyx.
  • The Manage Point Installations button is displayed for users who are assigned the Administrator role. Manage Point Installations is used to add users, assign user roles, and deploy Point to end users.
  • The Manage Mobile Installations button is displayed for users who are assigned the Administrator role at Point sites only. Mobile accounts for PointCentral users are managed by the PointCentral administrator on PointCentral.
  • The Download Server Software button is displayed for PointCentral accounts only.

MyCalyx roles include:

  • Administrator - Users who are assigned the Administrator role have access rights to manage user roles and assign and deploy Point to end users. The Initial MyCalyx Administrator is assigned when Calyx creates the customer account. Any Administrator is authorized to add additional Administrators as needed for the account.
  • End User - The End User role is assigned to Point users. After the End User is added to the account, an e-mail that contains a link to initiate the Point installation is automatically generated and sent. You can assign an infinite number of end user roles, regardless of whether you have enough seats. The users who activate the Point installation before all of the seats are used – have a successful installation. Users who attempt to activate the Point installation after all seats are installed – receive a message to contact the MyCalyx Administrator.

For step-by-step instructions and videos about setting up, managing, adding and modifying MyCalyx, click here.
